The Dark Knight à la Hitchcock

Who knew the legendary score from Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, Vertigo, synced flawlessly with the opening heist of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight? Bernard Herman’s queues line up so precisely with Nolan’s footage it’s uncanny; the swirling woodwinds and blaring horns immediately lend a surreal and dreamlike quality to Nolan’s Kubrickian heist. A perfect example of exactly how crucial a score (and dialogue as well) is to motion pictures. (via Devour)
