Rolling Stone reports Green Day has not one, but three, new albums coming out starting in September, appropriately titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, & ¡Tres!. Billie Joe Armstrong had this to say of the new material: The first one is power pop. The second is more garage-y, Nuggets-type rock. And the third is supposed to be epic. With the first album you’re getting in the mood to party. On the second one, you’re at the party. And the third album you’re cleaning up the mess. Bassist Mike Dirnt added: We were just thinking about making a killer power-pop record – dirtier, back to basics. We tapped into our version of Exile on Main Street. Glad they’re veering away from the prototypical Green Day sound of American Idiot & 21st Century Breakdown and getting back to exploring their more riotous & experimental influences.
